Sontg 15, Eral rated it liked it. Even when you’re trying to rethink the narrative, you’ve got to consider your audience. I will be reading more of hers, for sure. The narrators here have the clipped, stream-of-strange-consciousness sensibilities you find in, say, a Lorrie Moore story, but are more baffling and metaphysical.

Susan Sontag is brilliant and the ideas and notions in this collection of stories are absolutely genius. Among other things, it’s Stories 1.
The short stories are more like notes, often jotted down without a logical or chronological order, which makes the reading much heavier etcteera less enjoyable. She claims she sees it as her permeant career, but readers hardly notice her novels, except for Volcano Lover. Old Complaints Revisited was far too long and unreadable after the first twenty pages.
